1. The bright stranger.

An annoying fly buzzed around Igrene Hedgehog, as she lay in the shade of a tree, on the edge of Gum Tree glade.

This grassy, open space in the forest was a meeting place for animals and birds from all around.

A fly landed on Igrene’s nose.  She sneezed, but the fly didn’t stop bothering her.

Then a swallow flew into the glade.  As it swooped past Igrene, it snatched the fly away.

Igrene called out, “Thank you, dear swallow.”

That was the first swallow to arrive.  Now more swallows came, twittering, “We are home again.”

Igrene called out, “Good to see you all!”  

Animals came in from the forest all around to greet the swallows, and the tweets and chattering grew fast.

Then, suddenly the noise all stopped.  A big colourful bird winged majestically across the glade, and landed above Igrene on a tree-branch.

“Oh!  She gasped, and a swallow tweeted, “It’s a Fazzi bird!"

Mr. Fazzi then crowed loudly, “CAAWR!  CAAWWR!” before he settled down to sleep.
